The Practice
builds positive rapport with clients and creates a safe environment in which clients can learn, grow, and play
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Alabama and have had my LPC since 2003. I focused my career working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families. I have over 25 years of experience counseling youth as a mental health therapist and in the Huntsville City School system. I have extensive experience serving children in the community with a wide range of concerns including early childhood and adolescent academic, behavioral, and social concerns. Please consider seeking out services if your child or teen is experiencing symptoms of ADHD, adjustment disorder, anxiety, depression, OCD, stress management, anger management, grief, struggle with life transitions, and adjustment to family changes. Periodically I will offer fun, engaging small group sessions based on the needs of the youth in the community. Possible group offerings include teaching executive functioning skills, coping skills, social skills, etc. I always focus on the strengths of the child while setting goals for areas of improvement. A cognitive behavioral approached is used when appropriate. Youth need safety, love, security, optimism, and a positive sense of self. Counseling services will aim to develop a firm foundation for youth to thrive.
Support for your Family
I firmly believe in creating a nurturing and engaging environment that facilitates growth and healing. My office provides a family-friendly setting where children, adolescents, and families feel safe and supported. Every individual is unique and your services received are individualized based on need. Parents and families are welcomed and included in the counseling process. Clients will learn behavioral strategies and coping skills all while being emotionally supported.
Children and adolescents are facing more anxiety and stress than ever before, often relating to family conflict, peer pressure, bullying, social media, or academic demands. While occasional fears and sadness are normal for every child, they can easily become overwhelmed. Children are affected by anxiety disorders, with symptoms often appearing as early as pre-school age.
